About me

My name is Halja Pilvisto, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I was born in Estonia but have lived in Colombia for the past 10 years. I embody both Nordic precision and structure, as well as the spontaneity and flow of the South. My interests include foreign languages, South American dances and culture, ceramics, and culinary arts.

In my work, I combine knowledge of the medical assessment and treatment of psychological disorders with existential psychology.  I have learned that diagnostics are important for defining the need for medication, while a philosophical approach helps to understand deeper life conflicts that often underlie psychological disorders.

My work is client-centered, and I always consider the person’s momentary needs.

Work experience and training

I have worked as a psychologist for 7 years. I graduated with a master’s degree from the University of Tartu (2013) and obtained my clinical psychologist license in 2023. I have completed an introductory course in cognitive-behavioral therapy as well as introductory  and advanced training in motivational interviewing. Additionally, I have completed an introductory training in grief counseling (2024). In Colombia, I further specialized in humanistic-existential therapy (2017–2021) and I am currently in training of existential analysis (2025–2028).
